Fancifully manipulated and evocative of a dream, each building in Chehere’s series appears to be floating among the clouds.  Inspired by Hayao Miyazaki’s Howl’s Moving Castle and the quirky charm of Albert Lamorisse’s Red Balloon (two films I have always adored), the series focuses on the weightlessness and the freedom of flying.  While some of the structures are wholly fantastical, such as the chimerical collage of animals in Nature Morte/Still Life, most of the “Flying Homes” remain seemingly normal barring their defiance of gravity, as evident in the plain façades in Harmonie/Harmony and A vendre/For Sale. 

Represented by Zeynep Artist Representation in Paris, an agency specializing in cutting-edge contemporary photography, Chehere is currently parading this fantastic series all over the world.  Showing at myriad galleries and featured in art fairs such as ArtMRKT, Art Paris, and Art Fair London, Chehere is gaining prominence in the art world – and, with his “Flying Houses” series, seems to be captivating his audiences with flying colours.
